This month it’s time to get to know Andy. He is our on road automotive specialist. If you find yourself locked out of your car and need someone to come let you in and cut you a new key, Andy is the man!

Why did you become a locksmith?

As a child I was always interested in cars and keys! When I came to Australia in 2008 I discovered there was a special course for locksmiths. I started studying and working in the industry. It’s been over 10 years now.

What do you enjoy most about being a locksmith?

The locksmith industry is vast and encompasses many different areas. From domestic to commercial, and automotive. As an on road automotive specialist I get to spend my days working with cars, making spare keys, and programming car keys. I enjoy the change of scenery and the different people I get to meet everyday.

What excites you about the locksmith industry?

In this industry you learn something new everyday! You never know what’s coming tomorrow. It’s exciting to be in an evolving industry where there is something new to constantly be challenged by and opportunities to learn. There is always more to understand about automotive locksmithing, especially as the smart lock and key trend isn’t just a trend on building doors.
