Meet Jan Chanya – Wynns Team Member Lit Up
Jan joined Wynns Locksmiths in June 2023 and has since become an integral part of the Purchasing team at our Preston branch. With a background in business, Jan brought valuable skills to the role, even though locksmithing was a completely new industry for her. What drew her in was the opportunity to apply her business knowledge in a dynamic and technical environment—and she’s never looked back.
Known for her reliability and supportive nature, Jan enjoys being the go-to backup for her colleagues, ensuring things run smoothly behind the scenes. She takes pride in learning quickly, overcoming challenges, and keeping operations efficient and organised. Her “don’t say no until you’ve tried” mindset truly reflects her positive attitude and commitment to growth.
Outside of work, Jan enjoys the simple joys in life—Matcha, gardening, camping, and hiking. Time spent outdoors gives her peace and balance, helping her recharge and stay motivated.
Her message to others?
“Always strive to achieve your goals. And if your efforts aren’t enough, keep pushing harder. Never stop trying until you get where you want to be.”

1. How long have you been with Wynns Locksmiths, and what’s your current role?
“I’ve been with Wynns since June 2023, so just over two years now. My current role is in purchasing.”
2. What first drew you to locksmithing (or the security industry)?
I studied business, which is quite relevant to my current role. However, I didn’t have prior experience or knowledge about locksmithing itself when I first joined. It was the opportunity to apply my business skills in a new industry that attracted me.
3. What do you enjoy most about your work at Wynns?
I really enjoy being able to support my team as a backup. It’s fulfilling knowing that I can contribute to the overall efficiency, even if it’s behind the scenes.
4. Is there a project, challenge, or moment you’re particularly proud of?
Every day at Wynns presents new challenges, and I take pride in overcoming them. When I first started, everything was new to me, and I had to adapt quickly. The satisfaction I get from completing tasks successfully and efficiently has been incredibly rewarding. I believe in the mindset of ‘don’t say no until you’ve tried,’ and that approach has helped me grow.
5. What’s something people might be surprised to learn about your role or the Preston branch?
People might be surprised by the variety in my role. Although I’m in purchasing, I collaborate with several teams.
As for the Preston branch, the teamwork and support we offer each other make it a great place to work.
6. What keeps you motivated or inspired in your day-to-day work?
Completing daily tasks to the best of my ability keeps me motivated. There’s a sense of pride in doing things efficiently and correctly. That success pushes me to take on new challenges and step up in other areas.
7. Outside of work, what are your hobbies or interests?
I’m obsessed with Matcha – it’s one of my favourite things. I also love gardening, camping, and hiking. Spending time outdoors helps me relax and gives me the peace I need to recharge.
