Locksmiths Lit Up – Episode 14

It’s the first of June 2020 and time to meet our Workshop Supervisor Vicky. We are proud to have Vicky as a Wynns Locksmiths team member for the last 3 years. She brings a smile in everyday and is a pleasure to work alongside.

Why did you become a locksmith?

I wasn’t happy in my previous job and a friend told me about this job. I had never heard or known of locksmiths before but it sounded interesting, so I applied and got the job. I feel so lucky to be learning and training in a new career that has changed my life and makes me happy.

What do you enjoy most about being a locksmith?

There is always something new to learn everyday. I work with locks of all shapes and sizes. I get to install, adjust, open, repair, and fix all types of locks. I’ve developed a lot of skills through being a locksmith. Not just the practical hands on ones but also problem solving, patience, attention to detail, and communication. Helping people by fixing their locks and solving problems always makes me happy. I love my job!

What excites you about the locksmith industry?

The locksmith industry isn’t slowing down. It just keeps changing and is moulded by changes in technology. New technologies have affected the way in which many locksmiths operate and I can’t wait to see what changes in the future. I look forward to all the new developments and learning a lot of things along the way.
