Locksmiths Lit Up – Episode 5

Wow, the year is just flying by. It’s the first of September and time for episode 5 of ‘Locksmiths Lit Up!’. This month get to know the man with the name on the sign, Mr. Steven Wynn. With over 35 years experience as a locksmith, Steve has an in-depth knowledge of the industry and has witnessed a vast number of changes in security trends, technologies, and products.

Why did you become a locksmith?

Many years ago – 1985, my Mum saw an advertisement in the newspaper for an apprentice locksmith. “Mum, what’s a locksmith do?”
“I don’t know son, I think they cut keys.”
34 years later the rest is history…

What do you enjoy most about being a locksmith?

The diversity of the industry, meeting with clients, and no two days are the same.

What excites you about the locksmith industry?

In the last 5 years there have been more changes than in the previous 30 years. Client requirements for integrated security products, CCTV, Access Control, & connectivity through your phone. There have also been huge advancements in automotive locksmithing.
